Iowa Youth Survey Data

At a recent tobacco conference/meeting we were discussing the upcoming data requirement for the in-between year need. Does anyone have an answer for what they will be using that will be easy to duplicate?

For those that need clarification, DFC grantees need to report on 4 core measures every two years. Since the Iowa Youth Survey is every 3 years and the LITE version is not availabe, DFC grantees will need to do something to survey these 4 core measures.

in our area (AEA267), we have an "interim" online survey available to our schools - Building Tomorrow. It does ask age of onset, 30 day use and perception of risk/harm. We do not have a question on parental disapproval.

We have created a survey on our website. The two largest school districts in our service area agreed to have every 6th, 8th & 11th grader complete the survey this fall. When they do, their responses will be emailed to our administrative assistant. She will then cut & paste the answers into a spreadsheet to calculate the totals. Sounds cumbersome, but she doesn't think it will be that bad - better than paper/pencil.

I think we all need to unite as a state - either we all have to do it every two years or we all wait every three years for the Iowa Youth Survey!!!!

Michelle of Burlington...Could you share your website so we could borrow what you are using as it seems we do not have an unified answer as of yet?

Thanks
Angie
